NYU Login (Single Sign-On)
How to Log In to and Out of NYU Services
- Enter Your NetID@nyu.edu Username: On the first NYU Login page, under Sign in, enter your NYU NetID followed by @nyu.edu (e.g., abc123@nyu.edu). Not sure of your NetID? Go to the NYU Start Page and select Find NetID.
- Cybersecurity tip: Be sure to confirm the authenticity of the Login page before entering your credentials.
- Enter Your Password: After entering your username, you will be brought to a second NYU Login page to enter your NYU password.
- Forgotten or expired password? Go to the NYU Start Page and select Can’t Log In?
- Complete NYU MFA (Duo): If required, a third NYU Login page will prompt you to verify your identity and the authenticity of your login attempt via NYU Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), powered by Duo. Select Approve with MFA (Duo) and follow the instructions to complete NYU MFA.
- NYU MFA questions or issues? Check these top FAQs.
- Log Out When Done: Each time you’ve finished using NYU online services—especially on a shared computer—be sure to protect your account by logging out. When asked "Which account do you want to sign out of?" you may see more than one option. Be sure to pick the one with your NetID@nyu.edu username, then wait for a message confirming that you have signed out.

Login Issues
If you have trouble logging into your NYU account (step-by-step instructions above), try these tips:
If you received email with a link from a legitimate NYU source:
- On your computer, go to Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Firefox browser, then right click on the link and select Open Link in Incognito Window /Private Window.
- On your mobile device or tablet, select and copy the link, open an Incognito or Private browser window and paste the selected URL.
If you already have a Microsoft account (personal or alternate school), please try a different browser or open an incognito window.
New to NYU?
- First, activate your NetID on the NYU Start Page.
Use the right username
- On the first login screen, enter your NetID plus @nyu.edu (e.g., abc123@nyu.edu)
- Your username is NOT:
- Only your NetID without @nyu.edu
- Your University Number (N#########)
- A personal email like firstname.lastname@nyu.edu or a non-NYU email
- An NYU school email like NetID@stern.nyu.edu, NetID@sternad.nyu.edu, NetID@law.nyu.edu, or NetID@courant.nyu.edu
- Don’t know your NetID?
- Current NYU community: Look on your NYUCard or use “Find NetID” on the NYU Start Page (requires University Number).
- Applicants: Search for your NetID as provided to you by your school’s admissions office.
Use the right password
- On the second login screen, be careful to type your NYU password without typos.
- Make sure you’re not using an old password, including one saved in your browser or a password manager. Try manually typing your password.
- Don’t know your password? Go to the NYU Start Page and select Can't Log In?
If you’re still unable to log in
- Confirm that you’re on the legitimate NYU Login Page (web address begins with login.microsoftonline.com).
- See the additional support resources below or contact the IT Service Desk.
Cybersecurity Tip: Confirm You Are On the Legitimate NYU Login Page
Hackers may try to trick you into providing them with your NetID and password by sending you a phishing email with a link to a forged web page that looks like the NYU Login page. When you go to an NYU service like NYUHome or NYU Email and are prompted with the NYU Login page, always confirm that the web address begins with login.microsoftonline.com.
- If so, you can be confident that it is the legitimate NYU Login page and it is safe to enter your NetID@nyu.edu username and password to log in.
- If the URL does not begin with login.microsoftonline.com, the site is fraudulent and you should not enter your NYU credentials.
Authentic NYU Login Page URLs begin with "login.microsoftonline.com"
- If you reached the fake page by following a link in an email you received, use the PhishAlarm button in the right sidebar of your NYU Email to report it as phishing—or forward the email to phishing@nyu.edu—then delete it.
- Additional information about security tips and alerts, including what to do if you suspect your password has been compromised, are available in the City Smart, Cyber Smart section of this site.
- There are a few valid NYU websites that do not use the NYU Login page, but are secure. If you are unsure about the validity of any website that is prompting you for your NYU login credentials, call the IT Service Desk, open 24/7.
