A new look and feel for the NYU website is here!

It’s been nearly ten years since our last major website update. In that time, NYU’s research, academic, and global presence have expanded significantly, and so have the expectations of the NYU.edu website. This redesign is our way of catching up to you. We’re modernizing the NYU digital experience to make it easier to navigate, increase accessibility for everyone, and be better equipped to share the incredible work happening across our campuses. It’s more than just a new look; it’s a site built to represent the NYU of today.

This update is the result of using existing market research and months spent conducting stakeholder workshops, content and UX audits, analytics reviews, competitive analysis, and audience engagement. We listened, tested, and refined, working across teams to build a site that can truly serve our community.

We’ve introduced a new all-left-hand navigation that makes moving through the site clearer and more intuitive, no matter where you start. Whether you arrive from the homepage, a search result, or a direct link, you’ll always know where you are and where to go next.

Dynamic publication tools ease storytelling from across NYU, connecting people, ideas, and projects in one place. They allow our content creators to showcase connections, revealing how different ideas come together to shape real-world impact. For you, this means a richer, more engaging experience.

This design creates opportunities to use vibrant photos to display our community in full color. Updated page heroes can also use rich background videos to express the dazzling depth of our institution.

4 / 4 Violet Pride Throughout

Our custom typeface, NYU Perstare, works hard showcasing all of our personalities and tones. A clean and classic color palette features our famous violets. These stars, in conjunction with our stacked logo, convey our violet pride on every page.

We are excited to share this new look with you, but in a place that is always reinventing itself, we know that a website is never truly "done." Our next chapter is all about the heart of the site: the content. Next, we will shift our energy toward helping our content creators shine. By refining our content areas and providing more education and inspiration, we are making sure that "quality" isn't just a goal, but a standard.
